After leading the San Francisco 49ers to the NFC Championship Game as a rookie in the previous season and then taking them all the way to the Super Bowl this Sunday
quarterback Brock Purdy has made a mockery of the "Mr. Irrelevant" label that was placed on him as the 262nd overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft. He was the last individual to be selected in the draft.
The 24-year-old quarterback finished the previous regular season in fifth place in total passing yards (4,280), which is one position higher than his opponent in the forthcoming Super Bowl, Patrick Mahomes (4,183)
He also finished third in passing touchdowns (31), once again surpassing Mahomes, who had 27 touchdowns, and he finished first in passer rating (113.0).
When it comes to his position, Purdy is considered to be among the greatest in the National Football League. It has been demonstrated that he is not in any way unimportant.
However, his annual compensation is still proportional to the size of his first draft selection, which was quite modest. With it, the 49ers have a significant advantage over their opponents.
As of the middle of the previous season, Purdy took over as the starting quarterback for Kyle Shanahan's offense from Jimmy Garoppolo. Since then, the Niners have compiled a record of 21 victories and just five losses, which includes postseason play.
With a record of 12-5 at the completion of the regular season in 2023, they achieved the position of No. 1 seed in the NFC.
